Entering the fifth week of burgeoning rapper Boland’s No Days Off new music releasecampaign, he literally goes in for the kill – with lyrics and flows being the weapon of choice. With aspirations to become one of the best up-and-coming lyricists in the game, Boland looked no further than the enigmatic savant-like emcee Jay Electronica for creative inspiration.
“I remember hearing ‘Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind’ by Jay and having my mind blown. Floored. How can one guy carry so many different voices?”, explains the Nas and Bob Dylan inspired wordsmith. “From that point onward I made it a goal of mine to cultivate as many different styles, cadences, and perspectives as I could. I refuse to rap one way.” While digging around for a conceptually brilliant way to execute a stylistically diverse artistic vision, the “Pentagon” song and theme was born. “This song is like a Pentagon. It contains five sides, five styles, five Boland’s.”
