Ace Clark feat. Elzhi – “Maxine”

Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, Ace Clark was baptized in bars; from singing in the church choir to writing his first rhymes to impress girls. Although only 26 years old, Ace’s ever growing popularity lead to DJ Clue hosting his first project, to having legends such as Ice-T, LL Cool J, Slick Rick, Elzhi, Skyzoo and Peter Rosenberg support the rising artist.

Ace’s debut, The Good Fight, (2015) was well-received and received glowing marks from Afropunk, DJbooth, 2Dopeboyz, Vibe, HipHopDx, Team Backpack, The Source, Billboard, MTV, Hot 97 & BET’s 106 & Park to name just a few.

Ace’s mantra is about creating music that pushes the culture forward while withstanding the test of time; and that’s what he has accomplished with his sophomore album Black Privilege. The project is entirely composed, written and arranged by Ace and accentuated throughout by live instrumentation and neo-soul head-nods; all of the samples utilized on the project are Ace’s vocals that have been pitched corrected and modulated.

After warning you that life will pass you by if you don’t recognize the “Signs” with Talib Kweli and Joell Ortiz (which was premiered by Ambrosiaforheads), Ace is back with “Maxine,” where he and Elzhi weave the ultimate story of betrayal.  With a choice Slick Rick vocal sample, “Maxine” is a love triangle no one would want to live through.

Ace Clark’s Black Privilege will be released on 9-14-18 and is now available to pre-order and favorite:

Coi Leray – Huddy

New Jersey native Coi Leray started making waves at the end of last year with the release of her singles “G.A.N.,” “Pac Girl,” and “Delete” featuring Lil Nina. She gained attention for her hard-hitting beats and her ability to weave between signing and rapping with ease. Even though she released her debut mixtape EveryThingCoZ just 4 months ago the young rapper is not letting up.
Following up the visuals for “By Myself” Coi Leray returns with her trunk rattling single “Huddy.” The Nor produced track has a West Coast bounce to it and finds Coi using her aggressive in your face flow that compliments the beat perfectly.
Coi Leray is just getting started but the newcomer has a lot of heat in the chamber and she’s ready to get cookin’.

R&B artist David Wayne drops steamy video for “Show Don’t Tell”

“Show Don’t Tell” is a multi layered visual highlighting a passion fueled encounter in a dimly lit New York loft between David and his leading lady- wearing ornate lingerie and covered head to toe in tattoos. “Show Don’t Tell” follows the release of David Wayne’s latest  R&B/Trap EP, Baptism that received a great online reception, gaining thousands of plays on David’s Soundcloud, Spotify, Apple Music and Tidal. The video showcases not only his inventive musicianship but also his ability to create a compelling visual narrative.

The video was directed by David through a collaboration with Cinemasters Media.

David explained the inspiration for the video:

“I grew up in the late 90s early 00s, when late night shows like BET After Dark and Taxi Cab confessions were really popular. I was so fascinated with how after a certain hour, TV exposed you to such a different and dark world full of the forbidden and taboo- I think this is the feeling I wanted to replicate within the visual and why it’s so risqué, sexual and somewhat scandalous.”

“Show Don’t Tell” is an autobiographical track that highlights a difficult period of David’s life. Recovering from the death of a close family member, he found himself going from relationship to relationship, in search of comfort to ease his emptiness. The track is a message to one woman in particular, addressing his struggle to be ready for commitment.

Throughout “Show Don’t Tell” David showcases his striking voice, with a sonority that is undeniably similar to those of renowned R&B recording artists The Weeknd and Usher. The ambient instrumental exudes a sense of mystery, with its down-tempo beats and haunting melody.

David Wayne has been deeply involved in the arts since he was a child. He started to release his own self-recorded music to Soundcloud in 2011, from his bedroom in Baltimore, Maryland. In 2012, he moved to New York, where he has been continuously releasing new music and performing. He is recognized for being a self-sufficient and extremely independent artist because of his impressive ability to produce, record, engineer and release music from his home studio. He is also known for his capacity to create music with a message all while experimenting with different sounds.

Washington D.C.’s own Grateful Edmund New Track “Turn Up On Sunday”

”Turn Up On Sunday”
is a rare gem of a Hip-Hop track from Washington D.C.’s own Grateful Edmund. The gospel-inspired track produced by Hits By Jude brings back a feeling the culture has been missing for quite some time. Although the overall tone of the track feels like a gospel track, it actually feels more like a day party or grown man infused party record that you could even play at a wedding. “Turn Up On Sunday” could be this generations version of DJ Jazzy Jeff and The Fresh Prince’s Summertime song.

Brooklyn-based trap/rap/rock band Monsters On The Horizon just released their newest video “Mr. Scary”

“Mr. Scary” is a succession of shots of the band performing (sporting their signature masks), cut with pixelated static and glitches- giving it a somewhat dystopian feel. As the video goes on, the glitches become more and more apparent until the signal is lost. The video features members of the band’s creative collective: elevensixtysix. “Mr. Scary” was shot and edited by Monsters On The Horizon’s in-house videographer, @theofficialmicdee.

“Mr. Scary” is a social commentary about resisting the temptation to become complacent in a corrupted system.  From the album art to the instrumentation and groove, none of “Mr. Scary” resides within the norm of traditional rock, hip-hop, punk or trap. Rather, Monsters On The Horizon have created something entirely different.  A track that is, in fact scary, but moves the listener with its slapping trap bass and electro-synth soundscape. Previous EPs by Monsters On The Horizon including, “Howl” & “M.O.T.H.R.A.” vol I & vol II are available on all Digital + Streaming Platforms: iTunes, Spotify, Tidal, Apple Music.

Keep an eye out for the next live shows featuring Monsters On The Horizon. Catch them on a mini-tour during the Salem Horror Movie Festival October 10th – the 14th in Salem, Massachusetts.  Make sure you bring a mask.

“Mr. Scary” is out on all Digital + Streaming Platforms.
