Her first EP, TRANCE, garnered notable praise from Dallas Observer and AFROPUNK, as well as earning her a spot in the critically acclaimed BET documentary Stay Woke. Coming off of that success, Rebel is ready to dig deeper with new EP Mama, I’m Ok.
“I really think she’s a talent to watch!” — Laurens Grant, Stay Woke Director
The inspiration behind Mama, I’m Ok came when Rebel moved from her hometown of Dallas, TX to the big city of NYC. The tracks on this project are a glance at EB Rebel’s thoughts during her first year in NY; and the emotions that come with being away from family and following her dreams. Pair the new changes with old, menacing mental health issues (she has a history of anxiety and depression) and you have a complex project of highs and the lows. Already gaining traction with the lead single “Club 27”, Rebel is looking to have another great year.
Eminem, The Killer and Jack White head up the top of the bill, along with the likes of Tyler, The Creator, Khalid, Bryson Tiller, Brockhampton, Daniel Caesar, Stormzy, Thundercat, Belly, Noname, Taylor Bennett, Westside Gunn, Conway and many more appearing on the lineup.
The event takes place at Harvard Athletic Complex in Boston from May 25th until the 27th – tickets are available to purchase over at the Boston Calling website.
WunTayk Timmy’s got next. Keeping his foot on the rap game’s neck, the young rapper returns with a new hit just in time for the end of cuffing season. Featuring Mr. TrapSoul himself, Bryson Tiller, “Cake” takes its place in the Louisville emcee’s growing arsenal.
