Ponce has been on fire as of late, dropping off another hot track that is a sure certified trap banger. Following recent releases featuring Jose Guapo and OG Maco, this go-around he’s accompanied by renowned Pittsburgh Rap artist Hardo and Kizzl for this street scorcher.
On the heels of his debut project, Dreamworld, (2017) and after recently opening up for Migos, 22-year old Pittsburgh artist Tairey returns with his first release of 2018, “Nothing New” which features fellow Pittsburgh artist Hardo (who is one of the only major label artists from Pitt).
Today, Mass Appeal exclusively premiered the visual for “Nothing New,” which was partially shot at the home of Pittsburgh Steelers All-Pro Wide Receiver Antonio Brown.
“Sam Conturo, Nice Rec and I were working on beats and Nice Rec played these chords that I really liked. I could tell by the tempo of the chords that Sam was gonna add some crazy drums to it” Tairey commented to Mass Appeal. “While they were building up the beat, I wrote my verse and the chorus. I was supposed to write a second verse for it, but then I felt like it would be more interesting to have two perspectives on this track (instead of one). Something told me Hardo would sound crazy on it & I wasn’t wrong (laughs). I saw Hardo at the studio one day as he was leaving and told him about the song. He loved it and the rest is history.”
“Nothing New” is a dope ass song, and a really good vibe” Hardo stared to Mass Appeal. While this will get played on the club scene, there are also a lot of gems in it.”
Pittsburgh native Hardo has taken the road less traveled to reach these heights of rap stardom. Coming home from prison in 2012, the MC survived the gangster lifestyle that is often glamorized in popular culture, transitioning over to music and has not looked back since. Upon his release, he released his breakthrough hit “Stressin,” which yielded over 1 million views on Youtube, and was later even shouted out by T.I. on his Young Thug-assisted hit “Ain’t About The Money.” Fast forward a few years and Hardo has recorded two albums, collaborating with the likes of Meek Mill, 21 Savage, Dave East and is currently featured on Tee Grizzly’s “Ain’t It A Blessing” Tour.
Returning to break bread with his Pittsburgh comrades, Hardo unveils the official music video for “Today’s A Good Day,” featuring steel city natives Wiz Khalifa and Jimmy Wopo. Speaking with XXL Magazine, Hardo shares: “This video was for my city, for the streets in my city, for all my brothers in the feds, Wiz, Wopo and I stood united for the city, so Today’s A Good Day!” The Stevie B-produced track was lifted from Hard and Jimmy Wopo’s joint project “Trapanese,” which is currently available.
Last year January, GENIUS released “I Know What To Do” on his acclaimed LP, “A Eastside Story.” With that same energy present in the new year, GENIUS releases a remix to the the record with Hoodrich Pablo Juan & Pittsburg rapper, Hardo. It’s an anthem for 2017.
Hardo lets another one go from his upcoming TrapNati 2 album called “Represent,” a solid street-oriented offering featuring production from super-producer Cardo. “Represent” follows his last drop “Love For Real,” which featured a crazy verse from Meek Mill which set the net on fire.
Other features on TrapNati 2 include Wiz Khalifa and PNB Rock with production from Ricky P, Cardo, Christo, TM88 and more.
Pittsburgh artists Hardo and Deezlee release a visual for “Ghost Of Trish.” The track will be on Hardo’s debut street album “Trapnati” coming later this month which will be available on iTunes & Livemixtapes. Watch the video above.
