#WordToTheWise: “Brand Yourself”

Brand yourself. Find ways to separate yourself from the rest. Have a personality that doesn’t distract from your music, but rather compliments it, and ultimately attracts more fans.

Ms. Cardi B is a prime example! People fell in love with Cardi’s unfiltered persona on TV and social media, and when people started to listen to her music, they were pleasantly surprised. Not only that, once Cardi started gaining some heavy clout, she NEVER changed — and people love her even more for that!

And what about Blac Youngsta?
His Instagram videos are beyond hilarious, and even if we don’t get what he’s talking about half the time, he makes us laugh, and we continue to go back to his Insta for more. Best believe, when he drops any posts about his music, that we’re here for that too!

#WordToTheWise is brand yourself as an ARTIST, your music and image goes hand and hand.

HillTop HYPE PREMIERE: Maolu Ft. Lady J – “Vacation”

Minneapolis representer, Maolu, shares with us his brand new single titled, “Vacation.”

No stranger to the city, Maolu, has performed at some of the city’s most credited music venues; such as, First Avenue, Amsterdam Bar & Hall, Whole Music Club, and more.

The eccentric lyricist credits his musical inspiration to great acts like Frank Ocean, Kid Cudi, and Akon.

Last fall after a string of hard-hitting releases and his series, “Thirteen Thursdays”, Maolu, was listed in the “Top 5 MN Artists To Watch,” list by local radio station, Go 95.3.

After taking somewhat of a hiatus on the music scene, the 21-year-old artist never stopped working.

He’s remained busy in the lab as he’s been prepping for his newest offering.

With a plan in place, Maolu, plans to have his next releases show off his growth as an artist, all the while, blessing his fans with what they’ve been missing most… the music!

The new track, “Vacation,” samples the 1958 classic, “Come Fly With Me,” by Frank Sinatra.

“Vacation,” also features sultry vocals from Lady J, and a soulful production from local producer, WestKorea.

Stay tuned for more new music from Maolu on the way!
