Critically acclaimed DMV rapper.idk. (Ignorantly Delivering Knowledge) returns with more music, dropping an energy fueled single “Electric” featuring fellow Maryland native Q Da Fool. The track, distributed via Foundation Media, premiered on AdultSwim.comyesterday as part of the Adult Swim Singles program, which highlights music from underground artists. .idk. is set to perform “Electric” during his set at Adult Swim Festival next Sunday, October 7th in Los Angeles.
DMV rapper .idk. (Ignorantly Delivering Knowledge) has been on a hot streak since his standout year in 2017. His 2018 single “No Wave” featuring tourmate Denzel Curry gave .idk. a catchy, bass-heavy track that lead to over three million Spotify plays. A more recent drop however, was .idk.’s braggadocious “Lil Arrogant” with Joey Bada$$ and Russ, which immediately landed in the Top 10 on SoundCloud and continues to rise. After releasing the critically-acclaimed album IWASVERYBAD in partnership with Adult Swim, embarking on a sold-out European tour with Joey Bada$$, and an explosive performance at the inaugural Rolling Loud SoCal festival last December, he was rightfully named one of the “Best New Artists of 2017” by Pigeons and Planes and was featured in Red Bull’s 2018 “Artists To Watch” Campaign. IWASVERYBAD is a vivid autobiography of the 25-year-old’s life: it explores the narrative of .idk.’s adolescence – a journey of loss, redemption and eventual triumph- retelling the moments that led to his teenage incarceration and confronting the loss of his mother. Featuring guest appearances from Chief Keef, Swizz Beatz, DOOM, Del The Funky Homosapien, Yung Gleesh, Mother Marygold and more, IWASVERYBAD earned a spot on several major publication’s “Best of 2017” lists including Vulture’s “Best Albums of 2017 So Far,” Genius’ “50 Best Albums of 2017,” Noisey’s “36 Best Overlooked Albums of 2017,” and DJ Booth’s “50 Best Hip-Hop and R&B Albums of 2017.” Most recently, the young rapper released the fiery new single “Star” and embarked on the “Mad Man Tour” with A$AP Ferg and Denzel Curry, performing in cities across the United States.
In March, Maryland rapper .idk. shocked the Internet with the heavy-hitting collaboration, “Lil Arrogant,” featuring Joey Bada$$ and Russ. Today, it’s available on all DSPs. This past Saturday, .idk. joined local artists for Sofar Sounds‘ secret traveling performance series for an intimate live show in DC sponsored by 1800 Tequila. Caleb Brown & IDK‘s banger “Bleublk” given striking new visuals. Caleb Brown does not want to be kept in a box labeling him as a “conscious rapper” because he is much more than that. While politically-tinted in nature, his track “Bleublk” with IDK is also a legitimate banger with booming bass and impressive flows. The song has been given some striking visuals to further the narrative behind the lyrics, picturing Caleb Brown and IDK in what appears to be a mental facility. Brown wears a Bane-like mask, blocking his mouth while he still manages to spit an impressive verse.
Both artists are restrained throughout the video, locked up with chains to prevent them from moving around. IDK is lucky enough to be left without a mask but he wears a straitjacket to limit his motions. The video is notably dark, edited with cold tones in mind to elaborate on the song’s content.
Bay Area artist Jordan Garrett drops off the quick strike visuals for his dope new single “IDK.” Appearing on his recently released EP, Empathy “IDK” finds Jordan Garrett running through a range of emotions including the gut-wrenching “my Best Friend died today, IDK, IDK.” Using an array of colors against a simple black backdrop, the carefully chosen aesthetics play out as a perfect metaphor for the many moods of this talented young MC, Producer, and Engineer. Watch “IDK” below and be sure to stream + purchase Garrett’s recently released EP, Empathy as well.
