Jonah Cruzz – Once Upon A Time [Music Video]

“Every young nigga in my city should relate to this,” says Philly-born Atlanta-raised Jonah Cruzz, whose Just To Get By mixtape walks a fine line between freshness and nostalgia. While his throwback flows evoke memories of Dungeon Family lyricism, the imagery in his tales of growing up hard with a stressed-out mother and “not remembering the last time I ate” are immediate and contemporary. “‘Once Upon a Time’ is a song where i do what i do best—telling stories,” he says of the atmospheric Ralph Da Ruler production. “As a teen my family never had money, but I loved making money. Quick money. Me and my homies got out here and did what we had to do for bread.” If he keeps rapping like this bread shouldn’t be an issue.

Jonah Cruzz releases visual to standout track “Multiply”

Since his DopeHouse debut in 2014, Jonah Cruzz has been a favorite among our staff — especially to the one writing this post. The only thing I have against the talented ATLien is his lack of output. Two EPs in two years? That’s not enough! Ok… it’s plenty when the quality is as good as it is, but I’m just being greedy. That’s how fans are these days right?

Anyways, still on Cruzz Control since November, Jonah resurfaces with a video for “Muliply” — a standout track from his debut project, Ordinary N*gga.

The year is 2247. The world water supply is at 27%. And Mr. Cruzz finds himself in the middle of the SouthSide Atlanta Desert, post-apocalypse, with nothing around for miles, because as the saying goes: “real n*ggas don’t die, they multiply.”
