AZTX and April Ivy New House Banger ‘Somebody That I Used to Know’

Emerging British producer duo AZTX (“Aztecs”) return to light up dancefloors once again with ‘Somebody That I Used to Know’ – their energetic dance take on the Gotye and Kimbra classic.

The buzzing producers enlist Portuguese sensation April Ivy, who counts Ariana Grande as a fan, for the track. April floats across the club-ready production with her signature airy vocals, accentuated by AZTX’s intense bass grooves, vibrant piano chords and gorgeous pop hooks.

‘Somebody That I Used to Know’ is the sixth single from AZTX this year, and their second with April Ivy. The release follows their well-received remix for kenzie’s single ‘HOT’, which has racked up almost 400K streams on Spotify since August, and the duo’s recent signing with Arista Records earlier in 2019.

AZTX, comprised of childhood friends Dave Benkel and Jack Lavelle, earned their stripes playing bass and guitar in a number of hardcore rock bands in their early teens, before eventually tossing those rockstar aspirations aside at age 16 to join a touring pop cover band. While touring the UK and playing close to 100 shows a year, the duo eventually became acquainted with Jake Roche, the frontman of British pop group Rixton (now known as push baby), whose #1 song “Me And My Broken Heart” was climbing the UK charts at the time. The Rixton boys immediately took AZTX under their wing, helping set up sessions and inviting the aspiring producers along on writing trips.

Meanwhile, April Ivy has just signed to Beverly Martel after stints at Warner Portugal, Sony Portugal and Universal France and will release her first single with them in early 2020. Despite being just 20 years old, April has been leaving a mark with her music, making her a national sensation when it comes to radio airplay and music festivals. April’s project game.of.love, released July 2019, earned her an MTV Award nomination for “Best Portuguese Act”, her Globos de Ouro nomination (Portuguese Golden Globes) for “Best New Artist” and the award for “Best New Artist” for Nova Era.
