Young Dolph & Key Glock Get Frosty In The Video For “Aspen”

Young Dolph and Key Glock are a dynamic duo, one-upping each other’s flexes with humor and panache. Taking a luxurious vacation to the Rocky Mountains, the Paper Route EMPIRE rappers share Aspen,” their new music video. Produced by Bandplay, who makes a cameo in the video, “Aspen” is a bright and soulful single about ballin’ out in Colorado’s ritziest mountain town. Directed by Dolph himself, using the Paper Route Pictures moniker, the “Aspen” video deposits the Memphis natives in a spacious slope-side chalet with some beautiful women for company. The two rappers partake in a variety of winter weather activities, from snowball fights, to snowmobiling, and snowboarding (of course Dolph has Moncler ski goggles). Key Glock even makes a trip to a petting zoo to interact with his fellow goats. “Aspen” is the first video from the upcoming Dum and Dummer 2.

Oddisee – “No Trouble”

After a decade in the music business, Mello Music Group has witnessed the dealings and promises of the record industry. Running counter-clockwise to the mainstream ethic, Mello has settled on its own code of conduct and value system. Their catalogue is a Hagakare of hip-hop — a practical and spiritual guide to the essence. While the sounds are varied, an MMG release ensures that the art comes first, the artists are religiously devoted to the upholding of standards and values. The musicians swing fast blades and fly the Mello banner with speed and strength.

This is Bushido, the latest Mello Music compilation gathering the current roster and the label’s closest brethren. As always, the core shoguns are present: Apollo Brown, Oddisee, Quelle Chris, L’Orange, Joell Ortiz, Skyzoo, and Homeboy Sandman. The rated rookies brandish sharpened swords: Solemn Brigham, Namir Blade, and The Lasso. The legacy teammates with championship trophies are all present: Open Mike Eagle, Georgia Anne Muldrow, Elaquent, Kool Keith, and Mr. Lif. So are label affiliates, Murs, The Alchemist, RJ Payne, and B-Real. The veteran general rounds out the roster, Stalley, the newest member of the Mello family. This isn’t merely an anthology, it’s a fully-formed vision of what hip-hop can be. A meticulously assembled arsenal of past, present and future.

The label’s ingenuity partially stems from its gift at bridging the generations. Between Kool Keith, Mr. Life, Murs, Alchemist and B-Real, you have artists who fathered entire schools of hip-hop (Keith might well be the Abraham for every left-field MC ). Similarly, the first generation of Mello artists has defined the otherground of this era. Here, Oddisee, Apollo Brown and L’ Orange, embody the distinguished tradition of Pete Rock and Preemo, Dilla and Madlib.

After announcing the Bushido compilation with “Black Rock,” and news of Stalley’s new deal, today, Mello Music Group, releases the project’s second single “No Trouble,” which features and is produced by Oddisee. “No Trouble” was exclusively premiered by Brooklyn Vegan.

“No Trouble” finds Oddisee coasting through his hustle, making the usual grind feel like an effortless glide. The consummate professional, the DMV’s greatest, Oddisee, exemplifies the Bushido album, turning the expected on its head. The battle-worthy cut eschews the hardnosed and instead walks on mello, airy, jazz lounge production while making it clear who the chief is:  “I’m a whole vibe, I’m a whole tribe.”

Mello Music Group’s Bushido Compilation album will be released on 4-2-21.

You can now pre-order, add and favorite Bushido at your preferred DSP and receive “Black Rock” & “No Trouble” as IG tracks: https://smarturl.it/MelloBushido

Young Dolph & Key Glock Announce “Dum & Dummer 2” Coming March 26th & New Single

Tag-teaming trap tracks with outlandish flexes, Young Dolph & Key Glock are rap’s most in-demand twosome. Today, the Paper Route EMPIRE rappers officially announce Dum and Dummer 2, their second full-length collaborative album. The follow-up to 2019’s Dum and Dummerwhich peaked at #8 on the Billboard 200, Dum and Dummer 2 finds Dolph & Glock operating at an even higher level of craftsmanship, charisma, and luxury. The two rappers–and blood cousins–often seem like two halves of the same brain, each seamlessly picking up threads and finishing lines that the other leaves off.

To accompany the announcement of the album, the duo “Aspen,” a new music video and single that is icy in all senses of the word. Blessed with a deeply soulful beat from Bandplay (“that’s who I’m runnin’ up the bands with,” rhymes Dolph), complete with textured blasts of organ and twinkling keys, “Aspen” is a master class in flexing, as Dolph & Glock brag about ballin’ out in Colorado’s ritziest mountain town.

Lil Durk & OTF Release “Loyal Bros” Compilation Album

Lil Durk and his Only The Family label have grown in popularity, but they still dedicate their music to those going through the struggle. Arriving after a year marked by life-changing success and terrible tragedy, Durk and OTF share Loyal Bros, the fourth OTF label compilation tape. Spending their youths on the South Side of Chicago, Durk and the rest of OTF forged unbreakable bonds in the face of violence, gaining pride and security from the knowledge that their brothers had their backs. The new compilation explores that kinship, strengthened by the hardship of growing up in the trenches. The cover of Loyal Bros pays tribute to OTF’s fallen vultures, honoring King Von, who experienced a commercial breakthrough before his tragic passing in November, and acknowledging still-painful absence of OTF Nunu aka Nuski, who died in 2014.

The new 23-track tape is home to several new songs by Lil Durk, plus posthumous appearances from King Von, emotionally impactful turns from Booka600, snarling street missives from Memo600, and contributions from fellow OTF signees like TimoDoodie LoJusBlow600THF Zoo,and C3. In addition to OTF’s talented roster, Loyal Bros welcomes several high profile guests, including  Lil Uzi Vert (who connects with Memo600 for the standout track “Let It Blow,” Durk’s frequent collaborator Tee Grizzley (who has his own solo track on the project), and The New 1017 standouts Foogiano and Big30. The mixtape is home to recent singles “Pistol Totin,” by Memo600 & Foogiano, “Rules,” an educational track from Timo, and “Jump,” the tape’s mission statement and opening track, which features contributions from Durk, Memo600, Booka600, and King Von. Featuring additional appearances from Slimelife ShawtyEST GeeLil MexicoIkey, and more, and production from OTF-signed producers TouchOfTrent and John Lam, plus others, Loyal Bros is available verywhere via Only The Family/EMPIRE.
