What is your name and what city do you rep?
I go by the name Infamous A and I represent Boston, MA to the fullest.
Tell us about your latest releases, what inspired you to create them?
Recently, I released a visual for my song ‘Champion’ (feat. Cris Streetz) which is now streaming on all platforms. The inspiration behind this song was to be inspirational to anyone listening… Of course, not everyone listening will be inspired! I was just so captivated by the vibe of the beat plus I landed the feature I wanted, so when everything came together, I knew I couldn’t make a generic sounding song… Promoting ‘Mamba Mentality’ is part of my daily life, so I turned it into my art.
What is unique about you and your music?
Uniqueness is so subjective here in the music business… Although, something that definitely makes me different is the fact that I embrace chaos the same way I embrace the love. There’s nothing gimmicky about me. I genuinely don’t mind failing if it means becoming greater in the end. I’ll grind for 100 years even if it only takes 90 to make it, I’m built to work hard by nature. I think our community appreciates artists like that.
What shaped your music?
Creative inspiration and poor mental health. I actually began writing in middle school to help my ADHD and anxiety disorders, funnily enough. I found a niche and I never turned back. That was maybe 10 years ago… Then we fast forward to my adulthood and I’m still struggling with mental health every single day, except now I have a vision. My constant networking, my work ethic, my successes, my failures and opinions, that’s more so what’s shaping my music nowadays.
When did you realize you were going to make music professionally?
When I was about 14 years old.
What type of music do you listen to?
Lyrical hip hop will always be king, but I jam out to anything with an attitude or a message… Most of my playlist consists of artists like Eminem, Kendrick, Schoolboy Q, Jadakiss, Styles P, 50 Cent, Millyz, Grieselda Records, Tech N9ne, etc.
What inspires you to write music?
The deck of cards I’ve been dealt! Keeping everything inside just makes everything worse… For me, to have an opportunity to express myself creatively for a living is my main inspiration now. I’m so lucky to have that opportunity, even luckier to be good at what I do. All I have to do is execute, but crossing that finish line inspires me every time I step in the booth.
What do you do when you don’t do music (creative or otherwise) and that you are passionate about?
I’m a big sports guy! Being from Boston, I think we all love sports… I just wish I was taller to play for the Celtics, but since I’m short, I only dedicate my time to making music.
Happiness to you is…
Getting even in a healthy manner. My disorders and illnesses will never go away and that’s honestly fine by me, I just have to make it right. When I get my due and lock down some financial security, that’s when I’ll be happy.
What do you wish you were told when you first started making music that you think would help artists just starting out?
You have to invest money into your craft, in order for the business to invest in you.
Tell us about your upcoming projects…
I’m releasing a collab joint with Brooklyns own, Oswin Benjamin within the next month. That song will be produced by Reybeatz and it does have a visual. So be on the look out for that along with my upcoming mixtape. Everything I release this and next year will be ridiculous. Believe that.
Where do we find you music / music projects?
Everywhere, baby! Apple Music, Spotify, Amazon Music, YouTube, you name it… I’m active all the time.
