What is your name and what city do you rep?
My name is yahsetti, I’m artist and producer. I was born in Richmond, Virginia and raised in highland park on the northside of the james. I move to da ”o” and fell in the love with the city. I met alot of solid and beautiful people here. I haven’t been back home since, but I will always have love for where I come from. There’s so much talent back home in Richmond and also here in Orlando that’s working and grinding.
Tell us about your latest releases, what inspired you to create them?
I had the opportunity to work with slip n slide artist mike smiff recently on a track I produced ”Talk My Shit”. It was a great experience. You would be surprised how much you can learn from a person by observing by watching they creative process. I wrote my lyrics and produced the beat in the backseat of the car on the way to the studio.I was actually going through a situation and I decided to use my music as a outlet.
What is unique about you and your music?
I feel like I have my own unique style and sound. My voice is what I think might be the most unique thing, besides me producing it ”lol’ ‘so it’s special to me.
What shaped your music?
I was raised in foster care and I guess you can say I wasn’t your best citizen ”lol” going through pain, hurt and having up downs and losing people that I cared about is what brung the creativity. I always was musically inclined I mean all my life it’s been around me in some sort of fashion.
When did you realize you were going to make music professionally?
I dreamed it !!! Lol it’s a long story, but very real and true and actually was a spiritual awakening but I actually seen it. I had three dreams in one night for three days. After that everything was different I seen things differently and ive been on my journey every since. I think working with Slip N Slide artist mike smiff and also DJ Diggem305 also made me feel like I got this… I can do it… I just gotta keep going… Keep pushing no matter what…
What inspires you to write music?
Life, experience, and people.
What do you do when you don’t do music (creative or otherwise) and that you are passionate about?
When im not making music im most likely reading books and spending family time.
Happiness to you is…
Happiness to me is being free.. Working doing what I love to build a better life for my bloodline…
What do you wish you were told when you first started making music that you think would help artists just starting out?
That’s a good one … I wish someone would’ve told me that alot of people was going to switch up… I would tell a lot of artist that alot of their own family and friends not going to support them like they feel they should… I mean no sharing likes comments…Nothing lol … Don’t ever give up not everyone going to see the vision you see… Everything we see around us is someone else creation and before it was manifested into reality people thought it wasn’t possible… So hustle hard and take your time … Make music but also handle the business side … Study what you doing and feed yourself knowledge.
