For upcoming alternative R&B artist Jeda Voice, loving yourself and what you do is the key and the end goal. After racking up 1 million streams on Soundcloud with a number of his tracks going viral, JDV put out his debut album “PW8 II” on all streaming platforms, and he’s riding the momentum of the drop. Now, he’s coming out with a short film for the project’s otherworldly hit single “Purple Rain Pt.2” to be released soon, his voice and visions carrying through all of his work.
After writing his first poem in elementary school, JDV fell in love with the possibility of pursuing music upon hearing Jodeci through his grandmother’s stereo tape player. He put out his first record in the 8th grade, and has been nourishing his relationship with his craft ever since. “Music has this deep soul tie with me,” he says. “I believe it chose me. We all have choices, and my choice is to use my gift in the best way possible.”
At first, he was told he wasn’t built for a career in music. “I was told I wasn’t good enough… There was literally no love for what I was doing,” JDV reflects on his setbacks. Now the executive producer and writer for all his work, Jeda Voice is showing his audiences the world he’s building around his music, known for its unique sound, creative wordplay, and trance-like, genre-breaking qualities. His persistence to do what he loves shines through in the details. Onward, he hopes to continue using his passion to spread his message. “The lovers, the underdogs, the rejected ones, the ones that people envy, the ones that people hurt, the ones who have lost everything,” he says of the audience he hopes to reach. For them, he always leaves the same advice. “I want people to know that’s the only way,” he says. “To love yourself and what you do.”
