SHEEN Magazine Named Joint Media Sponsor for Walker Theatre’s 95th-Anniversary Concert featuring “Babyface”

Amidst the nationwide “Black Music Month” traditions and global Juneteenth celebrations, the historic Madam Walker Legacy Center is gearing up for its 95th Anniversary with a weekend of events.  Kicking off this landmark occasion Friday, June 17, Indianapolis native and winner of 12-Grammys, 3-American Music Awards, 2-MTV Awards, numerous NAACP and Soul Train Awards, Recording Artist, Songwriter, and Producer Kenny “Babyface” Edmonds, will be inducted into the MWLC Walk of Fame.  Next, patrons will enjoy a “Roaring 20’s” theme formal dinner-gala followed by an unforgettable (SOLD OUT) concert by the international superstar.  The MWLC will host the inaugural block party on Saturday and Sunday, including a Kid’s and Grown Folks Zone featuring a #DaddyDoDay (Daddy-Daughter Duo Hairstyling Competition).  This action-packed weekend culminates with a Gospel performance by one of the sisters of the multi-award-winning Gospel Group Clark Sisters, Karen Clark Sheard (presented by Big Brothers Big Sisters of America).  MWLC President Kristian Stricklen says, “This celebration will focus on the history of the Madam Walker Legacy Center and spotlight the great things to come within the walls of our newly restored building.  Therefore, we were intentional when planning this monumental weekend and made sure a family-friendly environment was included with fun activities and memorial concerts.”

The full schedule of events and performances can be found on the MWLC website at  Limited tickets for the gospel concert are available at or the MWLC box office.
