Rolling Loud Partners With RapTV for SXSW Showcase, Headlined by Don Toliver & Sheck Wes

Rolling Loud and RapTV, two of the world’s preeminent hip-hop brands, are partnering to present a two-day hip-hop music showcase set to take place at 8pm on Friday, March 18, and Saturday, March 19 at the iconic Stubb’s Waller Creek Amphitheater.

Returning to Austin for another set of unforgettable showcases, the hip-hop festival juggernaut Rolling Loud tapped RapTV, the largest hip-hop social media platform, to expand its presence in the Red River Cultural District. The two major brands worked together to create one of the most highly anticipated music events of the 36th annual SXSW.

Known for their availability to curate FOMO-inducing lineups each year, Rolling Loud has done it again, enlisting some of today’s hottest hip-hop acts and most promising newcomers to perform at this year’s pop-up in Austin. Don Toliver and Sheck Wes headline the all-star lineup, which includes other notable performers like Texas’ very own Trae Tha Truth, as well as Ken Car$on, Babyface Ray, Duke Deuce, Jasiah, and Tay Money, plus risers like Mike Dimes, Dro Kenji, Monaleo, and many others, who will help rock the party at SXSW like never before.

“Rolling Loud, RapTV, and SXSW teamed up to create the biggest event of the week,” says Rolling Loud co-founder Tariq Cherif. “We’ve put together a lineup full of artists who we believe are next up. Fans who attend our showcase are in for a treat, getting to witness these artists perform in an intimate setting before they blow up to the stratosphere.”

RapTV will be onsite throughout the weekend event to share behind-the-scenes content and exclusive news delivered in real-time straight from the heart of the Live Music Capital of the World. Fans should make sure to follow both RapTV and Rolling Loud on Instagram for the latest news and announcements about the showcase.

“With this SXSW showcase, RapTV is now entering a new chapter as a next-gen media organization, entertainment brand, and arbiter of hip-hop culture. What better way to celebrate this growth than by partnering with Rolling Loud, the biggest hip-hop festival producers in the world, to create the premier rap showcase during all of SXSW,” said RapTV’s Chief Operating Officer David Kantanka. “So often in music, especially in hip-hop, colleagues become competitors but this special event is a testament to the powers of collaboration, hard work and determination. With the combination of our Rolling Loud and RapTV teams, hip-hop fans better buckle up for two unforgettable nights in Austin.”

Sponsors of the inaugural RapTV Presents Rolling Loud SXSW Edition include Facebook’s Meta and BARS, their latest app available today for free download on the App Store, plus other big names. In addition to the showcase, Rolling Loud co-founder Tariq Cherif will participate in a panel entitled Artists, Stop Trying To Get Booked, offering real talk about the business of live hip-hop. In this discussion, moderated by Jacques Morel, Tariq Cherif, Caroline “Baroline” Diaz, and Rob Gibbs aim to shift the question away from “how to get booked,” to “how to become an act that talent buyers can’t resist booking.” They will explore the metrics and methods that major stages use to determine the value and appeal of touring artists, and how to improve these for yourself, or for your clients. Join us and you might even get gifted Rolling Loud Tickets from Tariq himself.

Monster Energy Heat Check with Rolling Loud’s Tariq Cherif

On a recent episode, Monster Energy’s “The Green Room” catches up with Rolling Loud Co-Founder Tariq Cherif for an insightful interview about the origins of the renowned festival. This piece describes how Cherif and his partner, Matt Zingler, started by recording up-and-coming rappers in Cherif’s sweet 4’9″ Granny’s sunroom to do their first festival in 2015 with 6500 people in attendance.

“Our shows feel like a punk rock show; the mosh pits are happening, and then you scale it up to what we do at Rolling Loud, and it’s an even bigger thing,” Cherif states.

Deriving his inspiration from EDM concerts, Cherif saw a void in live shows where the artists he listened to, like Denzel CurryCurren$yNipsey Hussle, and more, weren’t playing in Florida was on a mission to change that with the creation of Rolling Loud.

Monster has partnered with Rolling Loud since 2016, sponsoring both stages and activations. Cherif states, “I love how Monster pushes the music forward and supports a bunch of artists.”
True to the assignment, during the pandemic, Monster, and Rolling Loud presented “Got Bars,” a digital show much like The Voice or American idol but simply for rappers where the winner got a record deal from Empire Records, all powered by Monster Energy.

“The Artists community has the reach, the influence and the power to force this nation to live up to its promise.  Artists have always provided the soundtrack that inspired or provoked change in this world.  As others turn down the volume around the issue of racial and social justice, we salute a company who’s willing to keep the noise rolling LOUD!” Prophet, Co-Founder/Co-Chair of BMAC

Throughout the 3-day festival, Rolling Loud and Black Music Action Coalition will host panel discussions featuring industry thought leaders, activists, and musicians who have used their platforms to advocate for change.
