Black TikTok Trailblazer Akintoye inspires creators to add “Pizzazz” to their sadness

Before he was recognized as one of the only Canadian creators on the 2022 Black TikTok Trailblazers List, Akintoye grew a massive audience (2.5M+ followers) on the platform with his off-the-cuff freestyle skills – cue his freestyle about the COVID-19 vaccine (19.3M+ views) and his emphatic “I’m Broke” (21.4K+ creations). The Toronto native’s animated lyrical skills have inspired the TikTok community once again, as creators use his viral song “Pizzazz” to share their mental health checks in a lighthearted way. Previously released as a snippet on his page, Akintoye’s catchy track is a response to a comment, where one of his followers asked him about how he’s feeling. “Pizzazz” has more than 214K video creations to date, and its TikTok success helped the song rack over 1M streams on Spotify in over a week of its official release. Akintoye’s success translates beyond TikTok – over the weekend, he performed at Toronto Raptors’ Scotiabank Arena for the 2022 NBA playoffs.

Akintoye’s optimistic lyrics, “Are you okay, like really?/I’m fine, if I’m going to be sad I’m gonna do it with pizazz,” resonates with creators who find the upbeat in their down days by binge-watching Harry Potter films, buying concert tickets, and cooking their favorite comfort foods. Akintoye has also interacted with his song, showing his 2.5M followers how he deals with sadness by binge-watching anime, sharing other creators’ open verses and thanking his followers for streaming “Pizzazz.” Akintoye’s viral success is proof positive that TikTok continues to elevate Black creators by amplifying their voices to a wider audience.

Meet @TheBeatles: the Fab Four brings their music to TikTok

Nearly 60 years after scoring their first-ever number one hit, The Beatles hold a special place in the hearts of music listeners across the globe. This #Rocktober, TikTok announces that the Fab Four have officially joined TikTok, bringing dozens of their most-beloved songs with them. Fans on TikTok will be able to follow @TheBeatles, an account dedicated to the towering legacy of John, Paul, George, and Ringo.

The Beatles’ foray onto TikTok arrives in conjunction with the global release of the Let It Bealbum’s remixed and expanded Special Edition by Apple Corps Ltd./Capitol/UMe. Keep an eye on @TheBeatles for exclusive behind-the-scenes footage from the Let It Be sessions (the subject of Get Back, a forthcoming Peter Jackson-directed documentary coming to Disney+ this Thanksgiving weekend: November 25, 26 and 27), along with deep dives into the creation of individual songs, featuring interviews with Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr.

For the first time ever, creators will be able to soundtrack their videos with 36 of the most iconic songs from music’s most beloved catalog. The Let It Be album’s 12 songs are now available as soundtracks for videos, including legendary hits like “Get Back,” “Across The Universe,” and the ever-staggering title track, along with cuts like the John & Paul-duet “I’ve Got A Feeling” and the George Harrison-penned “I Me Mine,” the last song The Beatles ever finished as a group.

In addition to the songs from Let It Be, The Beatles have provided all of their No. 1 U.S. and UK hits for creators to use as officially-licensed TikTok sounds. The 27 songs range from 1962’s “Love Me Do” to 1970’s “The Long and Winding Road,” capturing a snapshot of the band as they evolved from pop phenomenon to studio innovators to cultural legends. TikTok creators will be able to express affection for their special someone with “I Want To Hold Your Hand” and “Something” (and, well, several other of the greatest rock & roll love songs ever recorded), weep along with “Eleanor Rigby,” and rock out to jams like “Day Tripper,” “Paperback Writer,” and their biggest-ever hit “Hey Jude.”

John Lennon’s solo catalog was launched on TikTok last October to celebrate his 80th birthday. Paul McCartney joined TikTok last December to help celebrate the release of his new album McCartney III, and he’s been an amiable and jocular presence on the platform ever since. This past July, Ringo Starr joined TikTok as part of his annual #PeaceandLove birthday celebration. George Harrison’s solo catalog was launched in August, celebrating the release of his acclaimed All Things Must Pass album in a special 50th Anniversary Edition.

The arrival of The Beatles signals the beginning of #Rocktober, a month-long celebration of rock musicians on TikTok and the towering figures that paved the way for them.

Let us “Come Together” to celebrate the presence of The Beatles on TikTok. Use  the tag “#TheBeatles” to share a video soundtracked by your favorite of the newly-arrived tracks, and follow @TheBeatles for even more.

Quay Global & his protege Blo5k Lil A release “Drop Top” [AUDIO]

Stream/ download “Drop Top” by Quay Global & Blo5k Lil A:

Atlanta music producer, Quay Global (Cook That Shit Up Quay)  rose to stardom after producing Lil Baby’s 2017 massive single, “That’s My Dawg”.  He later would produce “Woah”, “Southside”, and “All In” for Lil Baby, “Back at it Again” for Yella Beezy and a slew of other records that are in the Top 100s and on radio.

Quay Global is now trendsetting a new sound for 2021 with the release of “Drop Top” featuring rising Atlanta artist, Blo5k Lil A. Blo5k Lil A created a buzz for himself last year with the release of his single “Atlanta” featuring Trouble honoring the late Bankroll Fresh. Prior to that record, Blo5k Lil A has been making noise throughout the south with records such as “Feels Good” which premiered on No Jumper, “36” produced by Drumma Boy, and “Atlanta” retired as Hot 107.9 Atlanta’s Battleground champion.

Quay Global and Blo5k Lil A previously collaborated on “Light It Up” which premiered on MyMixtapez. “Drop Top” will soon be playing in a club near you and TikTok challenges are sure to soon follow.
